10th Liceum is situated in the centre of
Cracow. As soon as you pass through the gate you will be pleasantly
surprised by the attractive garden.
Founded over 50 years ago, it combines tradition with modernity. The
school has enjoyed popularity thanks to high level of education,
attractive school life and friendly atmosphere.
The school aims to thoroughly prepare its pupils for the matriculation
examination, which will enable them to continue their learning at
university. The pupils are shown the way of individual
development, they are encouraged to undertake various
challenges, accept social roles and promote tolerance and
humanitarianism.
The school building houses 20 big classrooms, well-equipped
laboratories, the gymnasium, table-tennis room,
main hall with the stage, two modern computer classrooms, canteen and
photocopier.
Teachers and pupils have at their disposal a variety of educational
aids, including audio-visual equipment, video microscope, multimedia
projector and permanent access to the Internet.
The building and its premises are monitored and a security firm takes
care of pupils’ safety.
Lessons are held from 7.30 to 18.45. The first and third classes have
lessons in the morning, the second classes in the afternoon.
The school takes pride in its long tradition of relations with foreign
schools which facilitate foreign language learning and broaden the
knowledge of other countries.
The exchanges with schools in Germany, France, Belgium take place every
year. Two students of our school receive a scholarship and spend a year
at a school in Rochester (USA). The school also participates in
Socrates Comenius Programme and European Youth Forum, both of which
enable pupils involved to perfect their language skills while working
on a variety of projects.
The school provides an opportunity to develop pupils’
interests and talents by engaging them in a wide range of
extra-curricular activities. Pupils can develop their skills and
abilities in the fields of art, science and sport. The activities
currently offered encompass a range of sports including basketball,
volleyball, football, aerobics, skiing and snowboarding. We also
organize numerous competitions as well as outings to the theatre,
cinema and museums. Pupils are also encouraged to cooperate with
charity organizations, like a Hospice, Children’s Home, Old
People’s Home, Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals,
etc.
At the moment over 1000 pupils attend the school. The kind of classes
opened in the school depends on the public demand which the school
tries to satisfy, their number depends on Educational Board.
A great advantage of the school is its location close the main railway
station. It is easy to get here from the suburbs of the city and its
surroundings.
